Phoenix Pamphlets (this page is temporarily relative to the az mills area)

[v1.3-lastupdate202609091231]

Every Day – Food

  • Rustler’s Rooste – (“walking distance” south) right above the Grand, it has a slide, live western music, sawdust on the floors, a bull (or cow), & a nice view. I frequently park there & walk West through the community to hike the mountains
  • [more pamphlets to come]

Every Day – Activities

  • Arizona Mills – (nearby, east) mall with little aquarium & little legoland, theatre with 70mm imax, tilt arcade, etc
  • MIM – Musical Instrument Museum – (far, north) world-class museum with a multitude of instruments from many countries from every inhabited continent, & you hear the instruments through a device that senses you’re near the exhibit. There’s also a hands-on room. I cant recommend this enough if visitors have the time to spare
  • Ikea – (nearby, south) it’s ikea
  • hikes – (nearby, south) aaaaah this is a temperature-dependent thing, but just south of the Grand is a park entrance to south mountain trails. hiking is everywhere so this entry is in reference to the easternmost edge of South Mountain.
  • Pioneer Museum – (far, north) i don’t know why i’m adding this because it’s so far north, but they sometimes have little reenactments & it’s very quaint & nice & i’m eager to return
  • fishing – if there are less fishing rods than there are people fishing, does everyone need a license?
  • [more pamphlets to come]

Road Trips

  • weeeee I’ll have to come back to list these, of course everyone mentions Sedona & Grand Canyon, but did you know for $10 you can visit the top of a Titan II Intercontinental Ballistic Missile?! Literally walk around an ex nuke in a very Fallout-franchise yet authentic aesthetic
  • [pamphlets to come]

Wednesdays

  • Phoenix Art Museum – (medium, northwest) is free from 3pm – 8pm
  • “taco wednesdays” – (various)
  • [this may be all?]

Thursdays

  • “3D archery” – (far, north) okay, this is probably just a reminder to myself, but there’s an archery range just north of the new TSMC plant, dirigible foam animals in a warehouse with some “outdoorsy” type people launching lethal darts at them. i’ve never been but one dayyy
  • [this may be all?]

Fridays

  • Art Walks – (various) there tends to be an art walk in some suburb city center each friday
  • Firebird Raceway – (medium, south) not every friday, but some friday nights they have car racing events here
  • Astronomy Observatory Nights – (medium, east) on the northwest corner of Gilbert Riparian preserve is a library, & next to that is a lovely telescope operated by Rotary International. Around 6pm or 7pm is a technical presentation generally by local citizen scientists, pleasantly academic & over my head, wish I could always go. & after dark both amateur astronomers & the observatory open for the public. Did you know “polaris” is actually 2 stars?! wowee
  • [more pamphlets to come]

Saturdays

  • Firebird Raceway – (medium, south) not every Saturday, but some Saturdays/Satruday nights they have car racing events here

[more pamphlets for following days & overall to come]
